My Current Night Time Skincare Routine

Throughout the years, my skin has been through some really terrible breakouts. It's taken me a while to find a skincare routine that works for me, but finally my skin is looking healthier, clearer, and more radiant. I haven't been able to say that in a while! I did have a bit of a breakout
around "that time" of the month but other than that, eating a more balanced diet and drinking more water really helps. By combining some of the older products that I've been using along with a skincare gift set that I recently purchased, I've finally found a skincare routine that has changed my skin for the better.

Removing Heavy Makeup: Before I wash my face, I start with removing my makeup. It's really important to be gentle when removing the makeup from your eye area, the skin here is thin and delicate. By rubbing off stubborn makeup, you will not only lose lashes but are actually aging your eyes. Eeeek! Who wants that?! I like to use an eye makeup remover on a cotton round. Other times I gently massage coconut oil over my eyes using my fingertips. Although there are no harmful effects, be careful not get oil into your eyes. You can actually remove all of your makeup by using oil, just massage it all over your face and then wipe it off with a warm, wet washcloth. Another way I remove my makeup is by using face wipes, which makes it easier to wash my face since most of the make has already been removed. On the days that I wear light makeup, I can skip this step and go straight to washing my face.

Washing: I like to use my Simple Foaming Face Wash I've been using this for about two years now and love this stuff. It's gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. I like to use this face wash with my Clarisonic Mia 2 for some deep cleaning action, then I know my skin has been thoroughly cleansed. I don't use the Clarisonic every single day though, I don't feel it's necessary and I like to keep it simple.

Toner: After patting my skin dry, I follow up with Dickinson's Witch Hazel. I like witch hazel because it comes from a plant, also because it can be use in various ways such as applying it on an insect bite. This toner has never dried my skin out and always feels soothing. If there is any makeup/impurities left on my skin after washing, this will remove it.

Oils / Serum/ Moisturizer: I usually finish by applying either Sweet Almond Oil or Rose Hip Oil on my skin, but every now and then I like to experiment with different moisturizers and serums. Lately I've been using Ole Henricksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster followed up by their Sheer Transformation Moisturizer. This was my first time using this brand and my skin is loving it! The serum has helped with smoothing fine lines and has made my skin look more radiant. Their moisturizer has really helped with my hyper-pigmentation and feels soft and silky on my skin. I'm picky when it comes to moisturizers, I want it to look good under my makeup as well as when I'm wearing it alone and this does the job. Both products are packed with lots of vitamins and formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthaletes. Yay! Being high-end products, yes they are a bit pricey but I don't mind investing into products that work great on my skin.

Eyes: I've only been using an eye cream for about six months, I had no idea that it makes such a big difference. I really like to use Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream, but I switched to using this during the day since it works great under makeup. At night, I've been using Ole Henricksen Eye Lift Gel. This cooling gel makes eyes look refreshed, more youthful and less puffy. Personally, I like the way creams feel better than gel but I do like the cooling effect on my eyes. An eye cream is a definite must have in my opinion, even though I skip it when using an oil on my skin. Still, I think it's necessary to use during the day after seeing the difference it's made.
