10 Ways to Stay Motivated & Achieve Your Goals

Hellooo Summer in LA! As the season changes; I've noticed that many of my friends are making life altering choices. Some of us are working hard at getting that healthy/hot Summer body, working on a new career, graduating from school, or even moving into a new home. Whatever it may be, life is full
of changes and new goals that we'd like to accomplish as we grow. Incase you're wondering, yes I'm one of those people making new choices that are changing my life as well. One of my friends shared her struggle of not being able to stay motivated to reach her goals, this made me reflect on what helps me stay on track. So here you have it.. :)

How bad do you want it?
I once took this awesome class in college where our teacher started off by asking us about our goals and how bad did we want to reach them. We talked about how many people actually give up and complain that it was too hard, which was obviously followed up by their excuse. I remember this one simple statement he said, "You have to really really really really really REALLY want it!!" Most people claim they may want something but aren't really willing to put in the effort it actually takes to accomplish it. So how determined are you to achieve your goal, how bad do you really want it?

Ask Yourself Why:
Make a list of your goals and the reasons why you would like to accomplish them. I like to focus on each goal and how it would feel to have it, imagining that I've already achieved it makes me feel excited and want it even more. This not only pushes me to really go for it, it also makes me feel really optimistic about being able to achieve it.

What's stopping you:
What are the obstacles that you feel are blocking you from accomplishing your goal and what can you do to surpass that? I like to create mind maps to help me to really break down what I want to do and what needs to be done to get there. Having some sort of visual map gives you clarity and a guideline to follow to get from where you're at to where you want to be. Of course it's just a guideline, so don't be afraid when there are detours on your way. It's always good to look at your guideline/map and reroute yourself when it's necessary.

Focus on the NOW:
Although it's helpful to think about what you want to accomplish to motivate you, it's more important to focus on the steps you need to take to get there. Write down a daily "to do list" that you can work on to get closer to your goal every single day. It can get overwhelming trying to do too many things at once, it makes my mind feel cluttered and I end up not getting anything important done. Focusing on one thing at a time makes me feel more at ease and I'm able to check it off  my list when the day is done, better one or two task than none.

Hang it up:
Create yourself a vision board/goals list and hang it up where you can see it everyday. I have a list of all the things I would like to accomplish in 2016 hanging next to my bed, I like to look at it every night. The greatest part is when I look at my list/vision board and realize that what I want to achieve is already happening. Oh and don't forget to celebrate your smaller accomplishments on your way to your big goal, it makes the journey to your destination much more enjoyable.

Stop thinking, start doing:
Most times we overthink what we want to do and allow ourselves to spiral down this negative pattern. Instead of actually taking action, we think too much about what we need to do, how it can get done, when is the right time and blah blah blah. Once you have figured out a plan of action, stop thinking so much and go do it! This is also why having that short, daily "to do" list is important.

Listen to motivational speakers: 
This always make me feel lifted and pushes me to keep going. I listen to motivational speakers regularly, it just makes me feel good and raises my vibration. It's important to listen to positive and empowering messages even when you are already feeling good, I listening to people who can guide me on my spiritual path as well. There are a variety of people that I enjoy listening to like Marie Forleo, Tony Robbins, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Osho, Eckhart Tolle, the Dalai Lama and many more.

Listen to empowering songs:
Music is definitely food for my soul, it always changes my mood and reminds me that I am powerful and can be/do anything. I enjoy listening to empowering songs when I need a pick me up, while getting ready, driving to a meeting, or just all the time..why not! Create a playlist for yourself of all the songs that make you feel awesome, energetic, and reminds you that you have the capabilities to accomplish anything you want.

I love pinterest! When I was younger I use to collect a lot of magazines and I'd cut out all the pictures that sparked an interest in me. Whether it was a makeup look, a beautiful place, or even a person who I admired, I'd keep them because they inspired me in some way. I still love the old way of creating a real board that I can keep in my room and look at everyday, but it's great that you can find anything and everything on pinterest from recipes, to decor, and even quotes. It's a great way to spark ideas and motivate you, you might even start a project that you never even thought of.

Get out:
Go out, get some fresh air, do something fun! Forget about whatever it is you are working on and stressing about, go spend some time on your own and enjoy yourself. Sometimes when we are working too hard, overwhelmed, or just overthinking, we need to forget about it for a little while. Once you stop stressing and relax, you may find that you have refueled yourself and you'll have that excited energy that you need to achieve your goals.
