Aloe Vera for Acne

Have you ever tried a new face peel and were super excited that it would do your skin wonders but instead you ended up breaking out and thought what the heck?! Yep, that's what happened to me. UGH! Although I was upset about the appearance of my skin, I wanted to make the best of a negative
situation. I decided to try a few different natural remedies on my acne, something that I hadn't tried yet. However, even with acne cream, the face peel kicked my skin's butt and it was not clearing up! While I was stay-cationing at my sister's house for the weekend, I spotted aloe vera gel on her bathroom counter. Aha moment! Why didn't I consider trying aloe vera before?!

Aloe Vera has many health benefits, I've used it in the past for cuts, burns, and bug bites. It contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it's also cooling and soothing when applied to the skin. Aloe also increases blood circulation to the area applied which results in quicker healing. This "miracle plant" contains many vitamins and minerals that are not only great for your skin but beneficial to your health when ingested. Aloe vera can help with aging skin, not only does it increases collagen production, it's very moisturizing leaving your skin with a more youthful appearance.

Okay, now back to my story.. That night after my skin care routine, I applied my moisturizer, waited about ten minutes then applied aloe vera gel onto my skin. In the morning I was anxious to see what my skin looked like and voila! The acne had finally started to clear up. It looked really irritated the night before but it seemed that the acne had not only started to clear up, the redness had also gone away. I decided to use the aloe vera in place of my moisturizer that day (just wash my face and apply the gel) I did the same thing in place of my regular night time skin care routine that night. The second morning, my skin was looking even better. More of the acne had cleared up and gone down, and my skin was actually looking moisturized as well. The breakout on my forehead seemed to be a bit more stubborn, the aloe vera did seem to be working but taking a little longer on this area. Still, I was pleased with the results, this natural remedy worked quickly and made my skin look more radiant. The best part for me was that it didn't leave me with post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, in fact aloe vera actually helps to prevent and fade scars. Personally, I think that this is a must-have in the medicine cabinet since it can be used for various reasons. Keep in mind that everyone's skin is different, so be sure you test a small area on your skin to check how your skin reacts and that you aren't allergic to it.

Now that my stay-cation is over, all that's left to do is buy my own bottle of pure aloe vera gel, or I may actually just plant one in my backyard. Now that'll be some REAL aloe vera gel! Ya get me?!  ;)
