5 Ways to Achieve Youthful, Healthy Skin

I love discovering ways to better my skin and health by using natural remedies and products. This year my combination skin has been a bit more on the dry side which also makes makeup application not so pretty, dry skin can also make your skin look aged as well. As I get older, I definitely
have started to pay more attention to whether or not I'm getting the proper nutrients, drinking enough water and what type of products I'm applying onto my skin. I love my skin to look healthy and glowing, yea I can fake that glow with highlighter, don't get me wrong..I'm all for it! However, what I'm talking about is that real healthy skin glow. So here are my current favorite ways to keep my skin healthy and youthful.

My Current Top 5:

Rose Hip Oil (Cold Pressed): I've actually been using this stuff for years and it's become a staple for me when it comes to skin care. Rose hip oil is full of vitamins and antioxidants, it's actually known for it's healing properties. It's great for your skin because it's anti-aging, helps correct dark sports, fine lines, dry skin and has also helped with my eczema. If you have dry skin, it can also be used before makeup application or with your foundation to add more moisture to your skin so you won't end up with cake face. 

Vitamin C Serum: Vitamin C is so important for your skin! I've been using Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum for the last few months, and it has been working really well for my skin. This serum is a blend of ingredients that are essential in you skincare, including hyaluronic acid, konjac root, and ferulic acid. As we get older the collagen production starts to slow down, which is why our skin doesn't look so plump anymore. Vitamin C is vital in the production of collagen making this another great anti-aging treatment, it also helps to to brighten your skin, lift dark spots, and helps with wrinkles. Love this product for the difference it has made on my skin.

Dry Brushing: A few months ago I started dry brushing my skin with a natural bristle brush right before I shower, this is a great way to exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells leaving you with softer skin. Other heath benefits that dry brushing helps with is increasing blood circulation, its a natural way to detox, can help reduce the appearance of cellulite, boost energy, and stimulates the lymphatic system. I also dry brush my face since it helps with clearing your pores, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and lightens dark spots left from hyper-pigmentation. I suggest looking up dry brushing if you've never heard of it, there are tons of in depth articles written on this topic and a set of directions on how to do it properly.

Sweet Almond Oil: I almost always use this oil on my skin right after I shower, it's really moisturizing, light, and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy because it absorbs quickly. Sweet Almond oil is also great because it's anti-aging, lightens dark spots, and has healing properties. Not only do I apply this to my skin, I also love to mix it with other oils and use it as a deep conditioner on my hairand sometimes a little on the ends to lock in moisture after I washing it. I love that there are multiple uses for this oil which is why it's one of my favorites.

Cream: Okay, last but definitely not least.. For a soothing and moisturizing cream, I looove Dream Cream from Lush!! This cream is vegan and works great on sensitive/problematic skin since it's made from natural ingredients like oat, lavender, and cocoa butter. I would double check the ingredients if you have sensitive skin to be sure you're not allergic to anything that's in it. It does have a light scent which I actually like (it's not from a perfume) and it is a bit on the pricier side but I don't mind paying a little more for products that I feel are worth it. I always get a little excited when I go into the store, it smells amazing, you get to try so many great products and everything is handmade. What can I say?.. I'm a sucker for Lush!!

    The Rose Hip Oil and Vitamin C Serum sound like two wonderful products. I love using nourishing oils and serums at this time of year as my skin needs the extra TLC. I'm also a big fan of dry body brushing before a shower! I feel like it really helps to gets my circulation going and gives me a boost! xx
